Chic Urban Luxury: Le Meridien, New Delhi

December 5, 2018

Classic style meets cutting-edge technology as Le Meridien New Delhi sets new benchmarks in the domain of luxury and service, reimagining it into a global wonder

Today’s burgeoning Hospitality Industry is all set to make experiences more inclusive, to offer something extraordinary, be it location, service, style, soul, design, seclusion or facilities. With travellers becoming increasingly discerning, hoteliers are busy determining how to make rooms more spectacular, restaurants more impressive and onsite experiences more memorable.
Enhancing its reputation as the epitome of chic urban luxury, Le Meridien New Delhi has always been a luminary ever since its stunning atrium became the cynosure of all eyes at its launch in 1988. An initial 200 rooms were instituted in 1982 to coincide with Asiad’82. A leading edge international lifestyle brand, Le Meridien retains its European heritage and offers a unique atmosphere that is chic, cultured and stimulating.
In keeping with the European concept of ‘La vie de luxe,’ Le Meridien’s avatar is aimed at exclusivity, translating its passion for art, architecture, cuisine, design and impeccable service into making its property into a ravishing, deeply luxurious experience. The transformation may have taken five long years, but this has only added to the hotel’s aesthetic.
Located in the heart of Lutyen’s Delhi, the hotel has injected new life into the property by redefining the concept of luxury. While celebrating its former splendour, the hotel’s new look is a blend of the contemporary and classic, which translates to a mélange of steel, glass, digital art and pristine white, creating an ambience that surprises and delights.  The fountainhead of this inspiration is Tarun Thakral, the hotel’s Chief Operating Officer, professional hotelier and connoisseur of fine taste.

Drama unfolds as you enter the all-white Lobby, featuring a mesmerising 19-ft-high glass sculpture, while the hotel’s signature music, lights and aroma elevate the premier luxury experience. The upgrade is most keenly felt in the hotel’s guest rooms, where the same high standard is seamlessly maintained, without a single jarring note.
The rooms are unpretentious, showcasing avant garde technology and a sophisticated ambience. While Italian furniture lends exclusivity to the rooms, each of the rooms and suites displays warm tones of wood textures, with modern accessories to ensure that guests have a relaxed and comfortable stay. An ensemble of six distinct styles, Luxury Suites, located on the 19th floor, is inspired by the timeless colonial era, contemporary art, and articulate detailing; each suite affords splendid views of the city’s iconic landscape.

The new luxury is all about perfectly scripted interactions, an unwavering focus on quality and an opulent environment that is immaculately maintained. The hotel’s singular vision incorporates this and offers an international lifestyle experience to its guests, one that is original, refined, stimulating and engaging. At Le Meridien New Delhi, it is a completely new world where guests can discover a new way of seeing things, whether it is to do with the art work, dining options, wellness or meeting spaces.

Strategically located in Lutyens Delhi, Le Meridien offers customised settings amidst stellar spaces that incorporate state-of-the-art technology. Well-lit back walls comprising alabaster stone, glass panes and mood lighting panels add up to a vibrant, modern ambience. Spread over 30,000sq.ft, the largest of the meeting rooms accommodates 500 guests in theatre-style, and 600 guests for a stand-up reception. Indoor and outdoor spaces allow freshness and natural lights.
The hotel prides itself in being able to handle large to medium-size conventions, medical conferences with live web telecasts, media events, road shows and exhibitions, all at the behest of expert in-house meeting planners, who ensure seamless planning in every sphere.
The brand offers Sustainable Meetings comprising green practices that increase environmental performance, social values and business impact, including energy efficient digital signages, green printing services, carbon offset programme, recycled content paper products, green transportation service information, among others. Creative Meetings help guests discover the destination, local food and experiences.

Sparkling: Launched in 2014, Sparkling invites guests to socialise and enjoy specialty sparkling beverages in a vibrant ambience. Taking off from the timeless sophistication of the classic European aperitif hour, Le Méridien Sparkling offers a modern twist to the traditional cocktail hour. Starting each evening, all Le Méridien Hubs will transform from coffee bars into swanky destination lounges, featuring a menu of destination-inspired effervescent cocktails and spritzers, bringing a spirited flair to Le Méridien Hub experience.
Le Meridien Family: In compliance with the all-family approach, Le Meridien presents a free-play environment that allows kids to engage in a world of make-believe where inventing, toying and tinkering are welcomed.
Éclair: Le Méridien Éclair has partnered with award-winning pastry chef and new LM100 member Johnny Iuzzini, to create eight seasonal éclair recipes exclusively for the brand. As part of the programme, each hotel will offer modern takes on three signature éclair flavours – coffee, chocolate and vanilla – as well as one locally inspired flavour.
Signature Breakfast: An array of high protein, low carb dishes featuring local flavours with a creative twist, The Signature Breakfast enables guests to embark on a culinary journey with handcrafted creations.
Le Meridien Hub: An innovative concept that re-interprets the traditional hotel lobby into a social gathering place. Divided into three experience zones – Arrival Experience, Interaction Zone and Longitude, it offers a coffeehouse environment by day and a sparkling-inspired setting by night; Master Barista serves delicious coffee concoctions for guests.

Be mesmerised by some incredible art installations, including ‘Homosapiens’ by Jitin Thukral and Sumir Tagra, and ‘Chamak Patti,’ by contemporary artist Sahar Zaman. LM01 is a signature scent created for the Le Méridien brand, while Nouvelle Vague makes music exclusively for Le Meridien hotels worldwide by curating a 24-hour soundtrack by talented Parisian musicians.
Infinity lighting at Nero: Signifying the endless, these artistic lights transport you into a seemingly metaphysical world, where endless reflections of the sources of lights, surfaces, objects and people surround you. This installation of lights takes its inspiration from its immediate context, the multiplicity of experiences that surround it in the LM Hub.

Indulge at The One, the all-day restaurant that serves international and local cuisines. Party at Le Belvedere, the city’s highest rooftop restaurant; Eau de Monsoon offers specialty classic and avant garde cuisine at its best. Wine and dine at Monsoon, which boasts a walk-in wine cellar.  Nero’s bar has the longest cocktail menu, and Longitude indulges with handcrafted seasonal coffees and flavourful éclairs.
