Over 150 expert chefs showcase their culinary skills for Chef Awards 2022

A culinary competition for the 19th edition of Chef Awards to celebrate and honor the very talented chefs and reward their culinary excellence was organised as a Trade Test by Indian Culinary Forum (ICF).

It was held at Institute of Bakery & Culinary Arts, Vikaspuri, Delhi and Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology.

Over 150 Chefs from all over India competed against each other in 11 different categories at this 4-day culinary competition. The winners of the culinary competition will be awarded at the grand ceremony of Chef Awards 2022 on October 14th, 2022 at Hotel Pride Plaza, Aerocity, New Delhi. 

The First day of culinary competition saw participation of chefs in 2 categories, i.e. Master Chef Baker, Master Chef International Confectionery. T

he Second day of this competition saw participation of chefs in 4 categories, i.e. Master Chef International Cuisine, Chef of The Year, MasterChef Oriental Cuisine and Master Chef Indian Sweets.

The Third day of culinary competition saw participation of Chefs competing in 3 categories- Master Chef North Indian Cuisine, Master Chef South/East/West Cuisine and Master Chef Kebabs.

The fourth day of culinary competition saw participation of Chefs competing in 2 categories, Student Chef of the Year and Master Chef Fruit & Vegetable Carving.

Contestants showcased a series of culinary skills, celebrating the preparation and presentation of the food accouterments in attractive and pleasing forms. The First day of competition was held at Institute of Bakery & Culinary Arts, Vikaspuri, on 8th October 2022. The rest three days of competition was organised at Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology from 10th to 12th of October 2022. 

Chef Davinder Kumar, President, Indian Culinary Forum, says, “We have been organizing the Annual Chef Awards since the last 19 years as a part of the celebrations of International Chef’s Day. Trade Test the culinary competition is an important aspect of our awards. All the renowned & WACS-certified chefs judge the competition very closely and choose the winner. We assure that it will be a valuable experience for all the Chefs and will maximize their potential and growth in the sector.” 

Chef Dayashankar Sharma, the Chairperson of this year’s jury, says, “It was a wonderful experience to receive overwhelming participation from the young and talented chefs. It was a sight to behold to see the exemplary display of culinary craftsmanship by the participating chefs. It was difficult for the jury to choose and award the talented chefs, as they displayed exceptional culinary skills. “

Chef Vivek Saggar, General Secretary of Indian Culinary Forum, says, “The objective of Chef Awards is to offer fellow Chefs a professional platform to showcase, hone their culinary skills and raise the overall Indian Culinary Art at par with the international standards. The Trade Test was not merely a competition as chefs will be able to keep themselves updated with modern techniques and mechanisms that are used in kitchens across the world.

The Indian Culinary Forum is India’s association of Professional chefs of India. It was formed in New Delhi in 1987 as an exclusive non-profit-making organization, dedicated solely to the advancement of the culinary art of India. The Forum’s objective is to act as a link, a platform and an instrument for the enhancement and overall development of the national community of chefs.

The World Association of Cooks Societies (WACS) is 110-nation fellowship comprising the world’s various professional chefs’ organization representing over 9 million professional chefs. The ICF has an international culinary focus in the staging of its various competitions, seminars, and events. The aims of the ICF, broadly, are:

  • To encourage and inspire junior chefs through training and competition
  • To enhance international, the culinary prestige to India
  • To encourage Indian nationals to consider a career within the hospitality industry
  • To promote Indian Cuisine globally
  • To help young chefs to hone culinary skills through training, workshops, and competition
