That meant everything.”
Mission 44: Empowering the Next Generation
Determined to create tangible change, Hamilton pledged £20 million of his own money to start Mission 44—a foundation dedicated to improving the lives of young people from underrepresented communities. Its work focuses on education, career pathways, and mental health support across STEM, motorsport, and the creative industries.
In 2025, Mission 44 extended its partnership with HP, helping to deliver digital resources and STEM education to underserved schools across the UK. The results are already visible. One young woman credits Hamilton’s encouragement for her breakthrough. “He told me, ‘You deserve to be here. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.’ That changed my life,” she says.
Ignite Initiative: Changing the Industry
Hamilton’s partnership with Mercedes-AMG F1 also gave rise to the Ignite Initiative—a venture aimed at dismantling barriers in motorsport’s talent pipeline. Ignite funds curriculum development, scholarships, and teacher support for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. He is also a leading voice on environmental responsibility, pushing Formula One and its global fanbase to embrace sustainable practices. Hamilton leads by example, having transitioned to a vegan lifestyle and investing in electric vehicles. His team efforts include offsetting carbon emissions and exploring new energy technologies—positions once considered radical but now increasingly embraced by the sport’s governing bodies.
