Cartier has expanded the Maison’s collection of jewelled bags to include seven new festive and elegant pieces

Produced in limited editions, these bags from the Maison’s evening collections pay homage to Cartier’s creative heritage. Featuring semi-precious stones and rare materials, these accessories blend the Maison’s heritage in both leather goods and jewellery. Cartier approaches evening-wear leather goods – with their abundance of gemstone details – through the eye of the jeweller. Embroidered beads and clasps made of amethyst, green agate and golden obsidian turn each of these jewellery treasures into works of art.

The hessonite garnet cabochons feature in abundance on the collection’s cylindrical Cabochon bag, which has been crafted from burgundy-coloured calfskin accented with a chain.
When it comes to materials, Favouring emerald-green satin, navy tufted velvet, golden lurex and slate-coloured gadroon-patterned leather.

The polygonal clutch bags feature a fully articulated fastening system used by Cartier since the 1920s. Made from satin, they are edged with a Nile crocodile trim, the colour of which matches the cabochon-set clasp.
They bear the influence of Jeanne Toussaint, to whom Louis Cartier entrusted responsibility for accessories from the early 1920s onwards. From vanity cases and toiletry bags to evening bags, she cultivated a style all her own.

“These bags are designed like pieces of jewellery – sophisticated and festive evening accessories – which elegantly celebrate a certain lifestyle. They draw their inspiration from the Maison’s creative heritage, which we are reinventing by drawing on the tremendous expertise of our craftspeople, without whom none of this would be possible.” Marlin Yuson, Creative Director of Accessories and Leather Goods.
