In an endeavor to mark their commitment to diversity and inclusion at the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), seven of their Delhi-NCR hotels collectively organised the #IHCLOneForOne Women’s Summit at Taj City Centre Gurugram on December 23, 2019.

IHCL is committed to creating an all-inclusive and safe workplace, where each member is respected and motivated to contribute to the growth of the organisation.

The summit aimed at bringing together the lady associates from across the Delhi-NCR Hotels in varied departments – security, engineering, housekeeping, human resources, culinary, F&B, finance, PR & marketing amongst others – to share their success stories, the path to growth, the challenges they face and how they stand one for one to rise above and create more opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, Gaurav Pokhariyal, Senior Vice President — Operations NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jaipur & Ajmer said, “As a leader in hospitality for over a century now, there have been continuous efforts towards nurturing a diverse, inclusive and committed workforce at IHCL.”

He added, “We remain committed to reinforce the importance and relevance of women at the workplace through various initiatives such as clear communication from the senior leadership; creating safe policies, places, and practices for women working in the organisation and by creating equal opportunities for them to compete in a level playing field.”

The summit also witnessed insightful sessions by Samir Parikh, Director – Fortis National Mental Health Program, and Sonika, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police. Lady associates from across the hotels shared soul-stirring and inspiring career stories culminating in their success today. Ruchi, a specially-abled employee who has been associated with Taj Mahal, New Delhi for over 35 years now shared her everyday challenges and exhibited a sense of self-sufficiency, independence and confidence that she is proud of today.

Kanika Hasrat, General Manager, Taj City Centre Gurugram who spearheaded the summit said “Growing women in the industry are one challenge I see and since I am a lady I aspire to have every department in the hotel with a woman’s touch. The idea is to have women in roles that inspire others and keep the tribe growing. The central idea of a forum like this is to bring everyone together, create a culture of belonging and help build camaraderie and synergy to stand one for each other! We hope to make this meaningful initiative bigger and better next year”
