Kumar Shobhan is the newly appointed General Manager of Hyatt Regency, Kolkata. Shobhan has spent
more than 19 years in the hospitality industry in a number of remarkable roles: from Food & Beverage
to Rooms and Spa and Catering. His last assignment was as a pre-opening General Manager for Hyatt
A people-centric professional, Shobhan has acquired a deep knowledge of diverse aspects of hotel
management and has gained experience in dealing with different cultural backgrounds while working in
the UAE (Dubai), and across India. However, his true passion remains with Food & Beverage operations.
Shobhan started his career in August 2000 as a Food & Beverage associate at Hyatt Regency, Delhi. After
a brief stint outside Hyatt, he returned to serve the hotel brand again in December 2006. A year later, he
was promoted to Director, Food & Beverage at Hyatt Regency Delhi. Following that, Shobhan went on
to hold similar operational roles with Hyatt in various Indian cities before moving to Lucknow in 2017.
An analytical thinker, Shobhan knows how to lead and inspire his team. Having worked in the industry in
different positions over the years, he has grasped a notable hold over the nuances of the hospitality
sector. He also possesses the knack of managing negotiations, forecasting and revenue management,
crisis management, and various other operation services.
Shobhan is elated with his new assignment in the City of Joy. For him it’s home-coming because of his
Bong Connection and his stint at Hyatt Regency Kolkata as Director of Operation in 2016. He looks
forward for an exciting time ahead keeping in mind to the proposed refurbishment/renovation of the
critical areas of the hotel. He aims to continue the legacy of the hotel. His main focus will be bringing in
innovative concepts in Food & Beverage, Social Events and enhancing the overall experience for the
guests and colleagues.
