Marriott International has announced the appointment of Kumar Shobhan as the Multi-Property General Manager for The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat and Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata.
A passionate hospitality leader with over 25 years of diverse industry experience, Shobhan brings with him a strong legacy of operational excellence, commercial acumen, and people-focused leadership. Having spent a significant part of his career with renowned hospitality brands, particularly the Hyatt International, his expertise spans Operations, Sales & Marketing, Revenue Management, Food & Beverage, and Guest experience enhancement. Over the years, he has contributed to celebrated hospitality names including Hyatt, Taj, and The Imperial.
An alumnus of the Institute of Hotel Management, Goa, Shobhan began his hospitality journey in 2000 as an F&B associate with Hyatt Regency Delhi. Since then, he has played an instrumental role in the growth and success of multiple hotels across, leading pre-opening projects, large-scale renovations, and transformative food & beverage and guest experience initiatives. In 2017, he stepped into his first General Manager role in his hometown, successfully leading the opening of Hyatt Regency Lucknow.
Known for his grounded leadership style and strong operational instinct, Shobhan leads with a sharp understanding of both people and performance. He believes that exceptional hospitality is built through consistency, attention to detail, and empowered teams.
Over the years, his ability to create culturally strong workplaces while driving commercially successful operations has earned him immense respect within the industry. His leadership philosophy reflects a thoughtful balance of discipline, innovation, and genuine human connection — qualities that continue to shape impactful hotel experiences.
