In a series of impactful events, the Foundation hosted TRANSaction 3.0, a transformative acting workshop, free of cost to Transgender & queer individuals which culminated with the screening of “Sheer Qorma,” a groundbreaking film directed by Faraz Arif Ansari.

TRANSaction 3.0, held at The Lalit New Delhi from April 3 to April 5, 2024, aimed to empower transgender and queer individuals to explore opportunities in acting and the entertainment industry. Led by Faraz Arif Ansari, the workshop featured sessions by professionals covering various aspects of the industry, including entrepreneurship, acting, fashion, branding, marketing, and dance. With over 50 enthusiastic participants, TRANSaction 3.0 provided invaluable learning experiences and served as a platform for collective healing and growth for the attendees.

Keshav Suri, Founder of the Keshav Suri Foundation, was delighted to collaborate with Faraz Arif Ansari to provide a platform for LGBTQIA+ community members to hone their acting skills & venture into mainstream cinema. He emphasized the importance of representation and queer actors in shaping diverse narratives within the Indian entertainment landscape.

Faraz Arif Ansari shared his motivation behind organizing TRANSaction, saying, “I wanted queer people to share their own narratives and experiences in their own voices. TRANSaction was born out of the idea to support and assist LGBTQIA+ individuals in taking that first step into the foray of acting and the entertainment industry.”

Further he added ”I am grateful to all our collaborators who have ensured the successful culmination of the 3rd edition of TRANSaction, an idea which was born in 2018 at the launch of the Keshav Suri Foundation and is a real platform now for our community to find their calling as an artist. TRANSaction is more than just acting workshops, they are collective healing for all, including allies who participate with us as mentors.”

The film, directed by Faraz Arif Ansari, explores themes of belonging, acceptance, and love among lesbian and non-binary individuals, challenging societal norms and celebrating the human spirit’s capacity for love beyond personal beliefs and social moralities.

Following the screening, a discussion with Faraz Arif Ansari and actor Swara Bhaskar delved into the film’s themes of relationships, love, and the importance of mainstreaming LGBTQIA+ narratives. “Sheer Qorma” has garnered critical acclaim both nationally and internationally, underscoring the significance of sharing diverse stories that resonate with audiences worldwide.

Keshav Suri Foundation believes that events like TRANSaction and screenings of films like “Sheer Qorma” play a vital role in promoting inclusivity, understanding, and representation within mainstream media. As society continues to evolve, such initiatives serve as catalysts for positive change, ensuring that the voices and stories of the LGBTQ+ community are heard and celebrated on a global stage.
