The Westin Mumbai Garden City appoints Shalin Jose as the new Director of Spa

Shalin Jose, the newly appointed Director of Spa at The Westin Mumbai Garden City is a successful professional with over 16 years of experience in the wellness industry. Jose’s abilities span every facet of the industry, including management, concept development, marketing, branding and business development.

Academically armed with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physical Education from Gwalior and Diploma in Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (CIBTAC), Jose brings with him a wealth of knowledge to the position. Jose commands extensive experience in the industry and will be responsible for the bespoke spa experiences at the Heavenly Spa by Westin in addition to ensuring the staff are trained to the highest degree of excellence.
Prior to joining, The Westin Mumbai Garden City, Jose was Spa Director for the Starwood Hotels and Resorts for three years where he created visibility for the hotel in his role as a Global Spa councillor. As a Task Force Manager, he helped launch India’s first Shine Spa for Sheraton, Bangalore. During his stint at Latitude Health Pvt Ltd, he was chosen by Asia Spa Magazine as ‘Spa Manager of the Year 2009’ and the President’s Award for outstanding Employee (2010). He has been responsible for numerous projects that involved the opening of multiple new spas and salons.
Proficient in the luxury spa and wellness industries, Jose’s forte is his strong professional and educational background that includes certifications from various Beauty Treatment training courses in India and his numerous professional roles in the industry. In his position as the Director of Spa, Jose will be responsible for the efficient running of all existing spa facilities within Westin Mumbai’s portfolio. With his great ability to thrive in operations and a passion-driven attitude towards the wellness and hospitality industry, he is all set to bring further success to Westin Mumbai.

During his professional tenure, he has played a key role in consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotels by accomplishing performance objectives focused on business revenues, guest and associate satisfaction. Jose achieved great success at St. Regis Saadiyat Island, where he led the team as the Director of Spa in his most recent role. Jose was also responsible for staff training and the development of treatment specialties exclusive to the hotel.

Jose draws on his diverse experience and will bring new expertise to The Westin Mumbai Garden City as they continue to grow and expand. The team at The Westin Mumbai Garden City looks forward to working with Shalin and setting new standards in the Spa and Recreation Department.
In his time off, Jose enjoys mindfulness practices, yoga, fitness activities and teaching.
