Ventive Hospitality, which owns and operates a portfolio of luxury resorts in the Maldives, has announced a significant milestone in its marine conservation efforts with the planting of more than 10,000 coral fragments at its ownership properties, Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort, Anantara Veli Maldives Resort & Naladhu Private Island Maldives, under its Holistic Approach to Reef Protection (HARP) programme
The milestone coincides with Anantara Hotels & Resorts’ 25th anniversary and underscores Ventive Hospitality’s long-term commitment to protecting and restoring the fragile marine ecosystems that define the Maldives.
The programme has supported the growth of more than 10,000 corals, contributing to biodiversity enhancement and reef resilience in the region.
Coral reefs are among the world’s most valuable ecosystems, supporting nearly a quarter of all marine species despite covering less than one per cent of the ocean floor. However, climate change, warming seas and human activity continue to place immense pressure on reef systems globally, making conservation efforts increasingly critical.

Commenting on the milestone, Oriana Migliaccio, Marine Biologist at Anantara Dhigu, Veli and Naladhu Resorts, said, “Coral restoration is patient, long term work. Every fragment must be carefully monitored as it adapts grows and becomes a functioning reef. Through HARP, we have grown more than 10,000 corals since 2017, but the programme’s value extends beyond the number. These corals create habitats for fish and other marine life, while enabling guests to understand and participate in reef protection. Seeing returning guests coming back to check on corals that they adopt shows thar conservation becomes most powerful when people develop a personal connection with the reef.”

Beyond reef restoration, the programme actively engages guests in marine conservation through coral adoption initiatives, hands-on coral planting experiences and educational activities designed to foster a deeper understanding of ocean ecosystems. Guests can also participate in guided marine encounters and learn about the importance of reef protection through dedicated sustainability programmes offered across the resorts.
