Chef Somasundaram G joins Hyatt Regency Kolkata as the new Executive Chef

Hyatt Regency Kolkata has announced the appointment of Chef Somasundaram G as its new Executive Chef

In this role  Chef Somasundaram is responsible for overseeing culinary operations with a strong focus on guest satisfaction, quality, and innovation. With 20 plus years of experience and overall culinary in charge, Chef will ensure exceptional food standards, consistency, and memorable dining experiences across all outlets. Beyond the kitchen, Chef is deeply committed to team building and talent development, fostering a motivated, skilled, and collaborative culinary team by mentoring chefs and encouraging creativity. Chef Somasundaram reports to the General Manager.  

Most recently prior to this Chef Somasundaram served as Executive Chef at Sheraton Grand Chennai where he was responsible for overseeing all culinary operations with a strong focus on guest satisfaction,  quality, and innovation. As the overall culinary in-charge, Chef ensured exceptional food standards and  memorable dining experiences across all outlets. Chef also encouraged participation in culinary  competitions at the hotel. 

Prior to this, Chef Somasundaram served for 20 years at multiple properties of Marriott International and has served as the Head Chef at Maxwell Reserve Autograph Collection, Singapore, at Shikar, the Indian speciality restaurant.

Chef Somasundaram graduated from the Madras Institute of Hotel Management, Chennai, and holds a certification in the Food Production Craft Course.  

Chef Somasundaram’s family reside in Chennai.
