Hilton announced the appointment of Sharad Kumar Upadhyay as the new Cluster General Manager of Hilton Gurugram Baani City Centre and DoubleTree by Hilton Gurugram Baani Square
In this role, he will oversee operations, commercial performance and guest experience across both hotels in Gurugram.
Sharad Kumar Upadhyay brings more than 25 years of international hospitality experience across China, India, Nepal and Thailand, with leadership roles in cities including Beijing, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Kathmandu, Pattaya and Bangkok. He joins Hilton from IHG Hotels & Resorts, where he spent nearly 25 years, most recently as General Manager of Crowne Plaza Greater Noida, the largest Crowne Plaza in South West Asia.
His career with IHG began in 2002 at Crowne Plaza North Beijing and included a long tenure at Crowne Plaza Kathmandu. He went on to hold senior roles in Delhi NCR, including Director of Food & Beverage, and served as Executive Assistant Manager in Thailand. He later led hotels as General Manager in Mumbai and Greater Noida. He has steered properties through ownership transitions and post-pandemic recovery, with a record of delivering results in revenue growth, guest satisfaction and team performance.
Sharad Kumar Upadhyay’s contributions have been recognised with several honours, including the IHG Journey to Tomorrow Award, the IHG IMEA Leadership Award and the IHG Exceptional General Manager Award. He has also pursued executive education at leading institutions, including Cornell University (General Management Program), the Indian School of Business–NUS Global Advanced Management Programme, and Harvard University’s Professional Development Programme in Design Thinking.

Sharad is known for his disciplined approach to P&L management and commercial strategy, his emphasis on building high-performing teams, and his use of technology and data analytics to improve operational decision-making. He will bring this approach to strengthening both hotels’ positioning in the Delhi NCR market.
