Launched by Husain Khatumdi, Varun Arora, Sohail Mirchandani, and Zishan Khan, it began its operations in Lonavala with a portfolio of 10 properties. By 2019, the company had expanded into Goa and additional weekend travel destinations, managing 23 properties in four cities.

The shift in domestic travel trends during the pandemic in 2020 led to a rapid expansion, with EkoStay doubling its inventory to 40 properties in six destinations. In subsequent years, the company extended its presence to 70 properties across 10 locations, and in 2022, it entered the luxury villa segment while adding new markets in North and South India.

In 2023, it expanded its services to include a food vertical and increased its portfolio to over 110 homes. In 2024, the company rebranded and introduced a proprietary service app aimed at enhancing guest experience and operational efficiency.
