InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort completes transformation with upgraded rooms, dining, event spaces and wellness experiences

InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, has completed the final phase of its transformation. The resort now includes an ocean-facing ballroom, expanded beach lawns, new restaurants and bars, upgraded suites with plunge pools, a sports pavilion, walking trails and a meditation garden.
The property has 110 guestrooms and suites with views of the gardens, pool and the Bay of Bengal. The Grand Presidential Suite includes ocean views, living space, a jacuzzi and steam room. The Presidential Suite has a private pool and spa room, while The Rathi Suite includes a plunge pool, steam room and garden views.

Set across 15 acres on the East Coast Road, the resort draws design references from Mahabalipuram’s Shore Temple and the cultural setting of the region.

The resort offers more than one lakh sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor event space. The Vaibhava Ballroom spans over 12,000 sq. ft., while the Vaibhava and Beach Lawns cover 70,000 sq. ft. Together, the ocean-facing ballroom and beach lawns can accommodate more than 5,000 guests.
The dining options include The Melting Pot, serving Indian, Western and Pan-Asian cuisines; KoKoMMo Tiki Shack by the beachfront; Tao of Peng, focused on Hunan and Cantonese cuisine; Viora Sky Lounge, a rooftop bar with 360-degree views; and The Gatsby Lounge, a sports lounge with live screenings, drinks and pool.
The resort’s wellness and recreation facilities include Amrtam Spa, a fitness centre, landscaped gardens, walking trails, a meditation garden, a sports pavilion, pickleball court, multipurpose play areas, an ATV trail, beachside yoga and sunrise meditation. Planet Trekkers provides supervised activities for children.
The resort is located about 60 minutes from Chennai International Airport and close to Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort is part of a global portfolio of more than 240 InterContinental hotels and resorts.
