Pradipt Sinha, General Manager of Holiday Inn Agra, IHG Hotels and Resorts, in an exclusive interview with Today’s Traveller shares his vision of hospitality rooted in cultural pride, personalised service, and meaningful guest experiences that go beyond the Taj Mahal.

Pradipt Sinha brings a unique blend of culinary sensibility, cultural insight, and keen hospitality acumen to the table as General Manager of Holiday Inn Agra, IHG Hotels and Resorts. His path from the kitchen pass to the corner office is not only motivational, but it adds meaning to each visitor’s experience.
TT Bureau: Agra is renowned globally for its heritage and vibrant culture. How does Holiday Inn Agra integrate local flavours, traditions, or partnerships into its services and guest experiences?
Pradipt Sinha: Agra is not only home to the majestic Taj Mahal, it’s a city steeped in centuries of craftsmanship, colour, and warmth. At Holiday Inn Agra, we take great pride in integrating these rich local elements into every facet of our guest experience.
Our breakfast spread is a great starting point, you’ll find regional favourites like Bedai and Jalebi, served fresh to offer guests a delicious taste of Agra’s culinary heritage. Our all-day dining menu also features authentic Mughlai cuisine that reflects the legacy of the Mughals, who once ruled this historic city.
But it’s not just about food. Last Christmas, for example, we celebrated not only the festive season but the spirit of local craftsmanship. Our tree was adorned with zardozi and marble decorations, handcrafted by Agra’s skilled artisans. It was a small but powerful gesture to honour the city’s artistic traditions and showcase them on a global stage.
We also actively collaborate with local artisans and small businesses — whether it’s providing curated souvenirs for our guests, showcasing traditional marble inlay work, or offering personalised cultural tips through our concierge team. Even our warm welcome includes a tikka and drink, a simple nod to Indian hospitality that instantly makes guests feel they’re not checking into a hotel, but stepping into a culturally immersive experience.
Our goal is to ensure that every guest leaves with not just memories of the Taj Mahal, but stories rooted in the soul of Agra.
TT Bureau: What makes Holiday Inn Agra stand out from other hotels in the city?
Pradipt Sinha: At Holiday Inn Agra, what truly sets us apart is the way we seamlessly blend global hospitality standards with heartfelt Indian service. As an IHG property, we bring international consistency and excellence, but it’s our people who bring soul to that structure. We embrace Atithi Devo Bhava at our Hotel, welcoming every guest with the spirit of heartfelt Indian hospitality.
Our central location in Agra gives us a strategic advantage, we’re equidistant from the city’s iconic landmarks and commercial zones, making us a natural choice for both leisure travellers and corporate guests.
Business travellers particularly appreciate our flexible meeting spaces, high-speed connectivity, and efficient service, designed to support productivity without sacrificing comfort. At the same time, families and vacationers find our warm atmosphere, local culinary offerings, and helpful concierge service perfectly suited for a memorable getaway.
Above all, it’s the dedication of our team that shines. From the front desk to housekeeping, our people go the extra mile to make every guest feel not only welcomed but truly cared for. In a city defined by its timeless monuments, we aim to deliver an experience that’s just as unforgettable.
TT Bureau: What is one unique experience or activity you recommend for guests looking to see a different side of Agra?
Pradipt Sinha: While the Taj Mahal is a must-see, we always encourage our guests to go beyond the postcard view and explore Agra like a local.
One unique experience we highly recommend is a heritage walk through the old city lanes of Agra, exploring hidden local markets that capture the city’s vibrant spirit. These walks offer a peek into the city’s living history, vibrant markets, hidden architectural gems, and street food that has been perfected over generations. Guests can also discover timeless landmarks like Sikandra, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, and even pay a peaceful visit to nearby Gurudwaras, all offering a deeper, authentic glimpse into Agra’s rich history and culture. It is an authentic way to witness the charm, chaos, and culture of Agra beyond its monuments.
Stroll through local markets and you will find shops filled with finely crafted leather shoes, a trade that generations of Agra families have mastered with pride. And of course, you cannot leave without tasting Agra’s famous Petha, a sweet treat that captures the city’s warm, traditional flavours in every bite.
For those interested in art and tradition, we also suggest visiting local artisans who still practice zardozi embroidery, marble inlay work, and leather craftsmanship, many of whom are keeping centuries-old techniques alive. These experiences can even be arranged through our concierge team.
What makes Agra truly unforgettable is not just its monuments, it is the warmth, care, and genuine hospitality of its people. Whether you are exploring a bustling bazaar or sharing a cup of chai with a local, you will feel that heartfelt welcome everywhere you go. Here, Atithi Devo Bhava is not just a saying, it is a way of life.
At Holiday Inn Agra, we believe the soul of a city lives in its stories, and we love helping our guests discover the ones that most tourists miss.
TT Bureau: Managing a hotel is demanding. How do you personally unwind and recharge after a long day?
Pradipt Sinha: After a demanding day managing the hotel, the best way for me to recharge is by hitting the gym or going for an early morning run. It is my personal space to rejuvenate and refocus my energy. Whether it is a quick cardio session or some strength training, that time helps me clear my mind and let go of the day’s stress. I also love reading books about leadership and the lives of impactful people, it keeps me inspired and helps me grow both personally and professionally. In a high-energy industry like ours, staying grounded and healthy is key, and the gym is my go-to for both.
TT Bureau: Your journey from the kitchen to the GM’s office is inspiring. How do your experiences as a Chef shape the guest experience and dining concepts at Holiday Inn Agra today, and what culinary trends do you see shaping the future of the hotel?
Pradipt Sinha: My journey from Chef whites to the GM’s coat has been both humbling and deeply enriching. Having started in the kitchen, I carry with me a profound respect for ingredients, flavours, and, most importantly, the emotional connection guests have with food. This hands-on culinary background gives me an in-depth understanding of the basics as well as the importance of creating innovative, memorable dining experiences for our guests.
I truly believe that food is one of the most powerful parts of a hotel experience. When you make a guest’s stomach happy, you win their heart. That is why we thrive on ensuring every aspect of a stay, from check-in to check-out, is supported by skilful teams working together, with our culinary offerings adding an unforgettable, experiential touch.
My roots as a Chef also make me highly attentive to the behind-the-scenes details that matter so much, food safety, ingredient freshness, and sourcing local produce are non-negotiable for us.
Looking ahead, I see dining experiences evolving around a few key trends, from locally inspired menus that celebrate fresh, seasonal ingredients to health-conscious choices with plant-forward options, mindful portions, and gluten-free alternatives. Guests today also love more experiential dining, like live kitchens, chef’s tables, and curated tasting journeys that make every meal special.
We are strongly committed to sustainability in our kitchens and supply chains, and we proudly promote a ‘farm to folk’ philosophy by partnering with local farmers and producers. To keep things vibrant and connect with our community, we also run unique food promotions and themed events that invite local guests to savour our restaurants and experience our passion for great food.
I am grateful that my roots in the kitchen still guide me to lead with heart, flavour, and purpose.
