We spent our childhoods listening to stories of terrifying locations, and ever since we can remember, we’ve had a burning desire to see some of them. The following are the 10 most terrifying and haunted locations in India that you may visit.

Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan

In addition to being one of the most deserted locations in India, the Indian Ghost Town of Bhangarh, which is located in the state of Rajasthan, is considered to be one of the most frightening places in India to visit.

Visitors are not permitted to enter Bhangarh or its ruins between the hours of sunset and sunrise, which is said to be the period when the location experiences the ghostliest activity.

A Tantrik priest fell in love with “the gem of Rajasthan”, princess Ratnavati, according to a Bhangarh legend. The priest wanted to perform a charm to make her love him. Once the princess learned of the scheme, the priest was killed. Before dying, he cursed the town. Now in ruins, it’s uninhabitable.

Mukesh Mills, Mumbai

One of the most well-known haunted locations in all of India is called Mukesh Mills in Mumbai. The mill was put out of business in 1980 as a direct result of a terrible fire that occurred there.

Since that time, there has been no one there. When the film industry began utilising this location for filming horror movies, it brought a lot of attention to this location. However, the cast and crew of these films reported seeing supernatural occurrences.

Shaniwar Wada, Pune, Maharashtra

According to the intriguing tale that circulates about this fort, one of the young prince’s own relatives in the fort cruelly killed him while he was still a child. As a result, his soul continues to linger there, and throughout the night, the sounds of him shouting and nearly violently screaming can be heard.

Many people from the surrounding area spent the night camped out on the grounds of the fort just for the purpose of listening to the cries for assistance coming from the little kid.

Dow Hill, West Bengal

The hill station of Kurseong is located in West Bengal and is known for its gorgeous scenery, forested mountains, verdant tea plantations, local cuisine and dense woods.

However, it is also regarded as one of the most haunted locations in all of India. There have been a lot of accidents and murders committed in this woodland over the years, and the ghosts of a few different youngsters have been seen here.

Many woodsmen who go into the forest have claimed to have seen a headless boy who emerges out of nowhere and then vanishes into the surrounding vegetation.

Writer’s Building, Kolkata

The writers’ building was an ancient structure that dated back to the time of the British. It was erected specifically for the use of the authors, who were employed by the East India Company.

Sadly, it was destroyed as a result of a natural calamity. The government then proceeded to demolish the old writer’s building and construct a brand new one on the same site. Many people have reported seeing ghosts in and around this structure.

According to legend, the spirit of the late Captain Simpson, who was employed by the British East India Company, has been said to reside in this structure ever since the three revolutionaries who were responsible for his death. Residents have testified that they have heard voices and footsteps after the sun has set.

Delhi Cantonment, Delhi

The Cantonment neighbourhood of Delhi is rife with ghost sightings and legends of the supernatural. Those who have driven through the region claim that it is inhabited by the ghost of a woman in a white garment.

It is thought that those who have consented to provide her with transportation are never seen or heard from again. Those who continue on their way without stopping have also said that the lady keeps pace with their vehicle as she runs beside their window until they reach the boundary of Delhi Cantonment.

Lambi Dehar Mines, Uttarakhand

A few years ago, the Lambi Dehar Mines in Mussoorie in Uttarakhand was the site of a very terrible event that took place there. Many people consider it to be one of the most haunted locations in all of India.

Over one million miners who worked in these mines perished as a result of the dangerous working conditions.

Since then, people have said they have seen and heard strange things at the site, like helicopters crashing or the sounds of people screaming and crying out in pain.

Dumas Beach, Surat, Gujarat

The name “Dumas Beach” in Gujarat, India, already has a terrible ring to it. As a result of this, it should not come as a surprise that it is regarded as one of the most haunted locations in India.

It is also thought that this beach was used for a very long time as a Hindu burial site, and as a result, it is the last resting place of tormented souls. There have also been rumours circulating about people who strangely vanished and were never located again.

Jatinga, Assam

The lone hill station in the state of Assam, Jatinga is a tiny tribal town that is notorious for the unexplained phenomenon known as “bird suicide.”

Numerous efforts have been made by scientists and ornithologists to comprehend the reasoning behind it, but all of them have been unsuccessful. Even more unsettling is the fact that this phenomenon only takes place on days with no moon between the hours of 6:00 and 9:30 pm throughout the months of September and October.

The locals are convinced that bad spirits are to blame for everything that goes wrong in their community, which contributes to the fact that this location is considered to be one of the most haunted in all of India.

Three Kings Church, Goa

Goa is home to a church known as the Three Kings Church. According to the legend, there once were three kings who fought for ownership of this domain and even murdered each other in the process of their conflict.

People who live in the area and tourists that come here say that the church is haunted by the souls of the three kings.

People in the neighbourhood say they have experienced “a mysterious, scary presence” surrounding the abandoned church, in addition to hearing sounds and cries coming from the church itself.
